Local Content: Helping local businesses connect, compete and grow

Local businesses play a vital role in the South West economy, creating jobs, building regional capability and supporting strong local supply chains. The Local Content Advisor Network (LCAN) helps ensure regional businesses are well positioned to access opportunities arising from government expenditure on goods, services and works.

The South West Development Commission’s Local Content Advisor service connects businesses with procurement opportunities, industry networks and capability-building support. By helping local suppliers participate in major projects and government contracts, the program contributes to a stronger, more resilient regional economy.

Making a Difference

Building Opportunities for Regional Businesses

The Local Content Advisor Network (LCAN) was established by the Western Australian Government to increase the participation of regional businesses in supply and contracting opportunities. The network supports local businesses to access procurement opportunities, strengthen their capability and compete for work across government and industry projects. It forms part of the WA Industry Link initiative and supports the objectives of the WA Buy Local Policy.

Connecting Suppliers and Contractors with Opportunities

The South West Development Commission hosts the region’s Local Content Advisor, providing a direct point of contact for businesses seeking to access supply opportunities and strengthen business capability. Working across government, industry and the business community, the Local Content Advisor helps connect local suppliers and contractors with procurement opportunities, information and upcoming events.

Strengthening Local Supply Chains

Strong local supply chains are fundamental to a diverse and resilient regional economy. Connecting local businesses with procurement opportunities helps build capability, create jobs and strengthen the region’s ability to support future investment. As businesses develop experience, capacity and industry connections, they become better positioned to contribute to major projects, supply regional industries and pursue opportunities beyond the South West.
